Coinciding with the reopening of the Welcome to Re_Public exhibition, we invite you to join a walking tour of the White City
The city is a built environment featuring the story of place, culture, and society in the past, present and perhaps indicating something about the future. During the tour, we explore the many shades of public space in the White City: pocket gardens in the center of the urban block, a communal garden in workers’ homes, side and main streets, building facades, and everything in between. We discuss the vision from which they emerged and this moment. Where does idea meet the everyday? Which elements of the past remain relevant to contemporary urban life? On conservation and renewal. A tour guided by architect and curator Sabrina Cegla.
We meet on Friday at 11:00 by the kiosk in Ruth garden. From there, we continue to Hod Workers’ Homes on Frishman Street, Dizengoff Square, and other side streets surrounding it.
The tour is part of Jane’s Walk, an annual series of guided walking tours in cities worldwide, celebrating public space. Named after Jane Jacobs, the tours are held on the first weekend in May to mark her birthday.
