המציאות של החודשים האחרונים שינתה את כל מה שהכרנו בנוגע לבטחון. המשבר הנוכחי מביא עמו לא רק איומים צבאיים, אלא גם איומים על החוסן החברתי והכלכלי של ישראל. עם זאת, עתות משבר מייצרות גם פתח לשינוי דפוסי התנהלות, ולכן לצד האיומים ניתן לזהות גם הזדמנויות.

ישראל היא מדינה עתירת ימי שמש אשר הציבה לעצמה יעד לייצור חשמל מאנרגיות מתחדשות של 30% בשנת 2030, אך הדרך אליו מדשדשת ואיטית ונמצאת בפיגור ביחס ליעדי הביניים שהוצבו. פוטנציאל ייצור החשמל בסביבה העירונית מנוצל בצורה חלקית ביותר, וכרוך במאמץ מצד גופי התכנון וקובעי המדיניות, אך לעידוד ייצור אנרגיה מקומית (בקרבת מקום הצריכה) ישנה חשיבות עליונה ויתרונות רבים בקידום החוסן העירוני. לצד התחזיות למחסור בחשמל החל משנת 2026, ותרחישי העלטה האחרונים ששלחו אלפי ישראלים מבוהלים לרכישת גנרטורים, נפגש לשמוע חשיבה אחרת ופתרונות מקוריים לאופן שבו צריך להיות מנוהל משק האנרגיה העירוני.

The reality of the past few months has changed everything we knew about security. The current crisis brings not only military threats but also threats to Israel's social and economic resilience. However, crisis times also create an opening for changing patterns of behavior, and thus, alongside the threats, opportunities can also be identified. Israel is a country rich in sunny days, which has set itself a goal of producing 30% of its electricity from renewable energies by 2030, but the path to this goal is lagging and slow, and falls behind the intermediate targets that were set. The potential for electricity production in the urban environment is utilized only partially and involves effort from planning bodies and policy makers, yet encouraging local energy production (close to the consumption site) has utmost importance and many advantages in promoting urban resilience. Alongside forecasts for electricity shortages starting in 2026, and recent blackout scenarios that sent thousands of Israelis in panic to buy generators, we meet to hear different thinking and original solutions for managing the urban energy sector.

The event is part of the four-day summit "Practicing Urban Resilience", a satellite event of the New European Bauhaus Festival organized by Liebling Haus LAB in cooperation with Space 3426 and Radical.
